Arranging a funeral
There are many choices to be made when arranging a funeral service. These include things like:
- The location - at a church, a crematorium or a burial chapel and graveside
- The readings - what do we want to be said to comfort those who mourn?
- The music - what hymns and music would portray something of the person’s life and faith?
- Who might speak at the funeral? - the vicar, or a member of the family or friend (and what might they say?)
Of course, many of these things may have been decided previously, or perhaps written in the will of the person who has died. But the details of the service will need to be put together, and hopefully the way in which this is done will reflect something of the goodness of the person’s life and of God’s comfort for those who mourn.
